WePlay was appointed by the Crypto Trading platform, Bitget, to activate their elite-level sponsorship with one of football’s greatest icons.

When one of the world’s leading derivatives exchanges, Bitget, signed one of the best footballers in history as a brand ambassador, WePlay were appointed as the lead creative agency for the activation.

WePlay were tasked with developing a hero video production and social media campaign with Messi ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to raise global awareness for Bitget and inspire a new generation to join the crypto exchange revolution.

Through a series of creative workshops with Bitget and Messi’s team, we developed the #MakeItCount campaign, a narrative blending the ability for crypto trading to change lives and fortunes with Messi’s personal journey to win football’s elite prize.

WePlay planned, shot and edited a high-end video production with Messi in Paris for promotion across more than 100 markets. This was supported by video teasers, social media assets and photography for use in Bitget’s global brand marketing activity.

Our collaborative approach during the concept stage ensured that all parties were aligned and able to maximise time with the talent and produce an authentic, impactful hero campaign that Messi and his team were proud to share. Messi’s victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup was the icing on the cake, enabling us to capitalise on a historic moment for Messi, perfectly aligned with our ‘Make It Count’ campaign message.
