Why advertising on TikTok is like gardening… Here’s what you need to know

Members of our WePlay team attended the TikTok Partners Event ready to find out what the topline news was to share with our wider community. Now part of every marketing agency’s toolkit, the importance of differentiation within a TikTok strategy has never been more paramount.  Here’s the breakdown of how to maximise the app’s USPs:  

1. Create the Right Environment for Growth:  

Much like the quality of good soil, the surroundings for a plant to grow have to be right. The creation of a content strategy has to be leveraged to reach the right community of people. In order for the algorithm to push content, engagement needs to be high. 3. Prune, Re-pot & Adapt:  

Like gardening, the prime conditions for advertising change all the time because of how innovative, fast-growing and saturated the market is. Take hooks for example. A compelling start to a video keeps people engaged.  

💡Top Tip: 3.3 seconds is all it takes for someone to keep scrolling.  

So, each piece of content has to be bespoke and encompass your brand’s USP in under 20 seconds. However, this means you’re not going to get it right all of the time. Get ready to pivot by knowing the app well enough and having your ear to the ground for new trends.  Just as one approach will not work for all plants use your team’s creative spark to try new things.
