Last week, WePlay was in attendance at the annual SportsPro OTT Summit in Madrid. Spread across three days with more than 800 delegates, WePlay got to meet with fellow professionals and pioneers in the OTT industry to discuss themes like driving awareness and subscriptions, combatting churn and boosting customer retention for OTT platforms.
One of the hot topics of the week was our brand new Playbook ‘How To Win On OTT: Strategies for OTT Sports Broadcasters To Drive Revenue & Results’. The newest instalment of our ‘How To Win’ content series combines WePlay’s experience and expertise in working with leading OTT companies in the sports industry; this includes campaigns for sports broadcasters Eleven Sports and Premier Sports, as well as the first UFC app in the MENA region for UFC Arabia.
Our OTT Playbook serves up a clear and powerful performance-driven strategy guide that will help brands to engage with the modern sports fan. Every attendee was presented with an exclusive hard copy on arrival which led to some great feedback and really exciting discussions all week.
Some of our clients were also represented at the OTT Summit including Facebook, LaLiga and European Tour, with the latter’s Chief Content Officer Rufus Hack taking part in a panel discussion on how OTT platforms serve specialist audiences and can best provide value for those dedicated audiences. We are proud to be supporting European Tour in their marketing efforts, including developing a dedicated direct-to-consumer strategy to support attendance and revenue growth across their event calendar.
The week was wrapped up by the OTT Awards Ceremony on Thursday night, where WePlay was nominated in the ‘Best Marketing Campaign’ category for our collaboration with ESPN on ESPN Player. Unfortunately we didn’t get to take the trophy home, but it was a great night nonetheless. We’d like to congratulate all winners on the night and look forward to mixing it with the best again next year.
All in all the OTT Summit in Madrid was a productive and valuable event, where WePlay got to meet like-minded professionals chatting all things performance-driven and OTT. It was great to connect with broadcasters, rights holders, clubs and leagues, and explore how our insights and expertise in the OTT industry can help them win in the digital age.
