Head of Communications

Job Summary

WePlay is looking for an ambitious Head of Communications with experience in developing and delivering multi-channel comms strategies for brands within sports, entertainment and lifestyle.

WePlay embodies an ‘experts that lead experts’ approach, and as a Head of Communications, you will be the most experienced multi-channel marketer in the company, leading a team of analysts, strategists, channel experts and creatives in how we communicate in today’s digital-first world.


  • Responsible for the delivery and quality output of all work produced within the Communications team and the plan for delivery across our partners
  • Work closely with partner account managers and our partners to define the comms strategy, channels and fan engagement strategies. You will manage the end-to-end process and drive execution to deliver against client business goals and KPIs
  • Selling new ideas, concepts and formats to our clients. This will include attending creative conceptualisation meetings to pitch your vision
  • Responsible for brand consistency across client activity
  • Responsible for setting the strategic direction for the communications team
  • Responsible for managing platform partners in Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok and others
  • Oversee daily content management and distribution across client digital channels
  • Monitor performance to effectively measure the impact of the social and comms strategy
  • Monitor, analyse & report on the success of our marketing activity
  • Lead the briefing process alongside internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage budgets and tools used for analysis and execution
  • Line management of up to five direct reports, provides the team with strong mentoring and clear leadership which both motivates and inspires a culture of high achievement


  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience working in marketing and communications related roles
  • Proven experience in developing multi-channel comms strategies
  • Experience developing creative ideas that are powered by data and insight
  • Budget management and experience in running a project against an agreed budget plan
  • Experience managing a multi-skilled team
  • Proven experience in developing ideas that drive audience engagement and commercial value
  • A natural problem solver, with a can-do attitude that is a safe pair of hands
  • An individual who is always looking for a better and more efficient way of doing things
  • Attention to detail and a critical eye that can spot even the smallest mistakes
  • Someone who closely follows the trends in digital and social media
  • Someone who strives for excellence, both personally and professionally
