We are delighted to announce that WePlay have been recognised as the leading marketing agency serving football by winning the prestigious ‘Agency of the Year’ category at the 2017 Football Business Awards.
On Thursday 2nd November 2017 at a packed Tobacco Docks in London’s East End, WePlay won ‘Agency of the Year’.
Competing in a highly competitive category against some of the best marketing and creative agencies in the business, WePlay were selected by judges that included the CEO’s of Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Huddersfield Town, Stoke City, the Scottish Premier League, Managing Director of The Premier League and CEO of the Football Foundation.
It’s an outstanding achievement and one which comes towards the end of an incredible year for WePlay, where we have delivered marketing success for a range of international brands in football, including FC Barcelona, Yokohama Tyres and Red Bull.
When WePlay launched in 2012, our focus was on helping rights holders and governing bodies within the football landscape. The journey has been a varying one, whereby our Chief Executive, Luca Massaro, a former Marketing Analyst and Product Manager at Chelsea FC set the agenda for WePlay to become a business focused on delivering commercial success for its clients.
This would mean challenging the status quo with a view to developing new marketing strategies, predicated on data and supported by targeted digital advertising campaigns, allowing sporting organisations to operate more like media and retail businesses. It was this approach that has since empowered our clients to produce greater results from their marketing and commercial activities.
WePlay have grown to become a go-to specialist for any organisation that seeks to reach and engage sports fans and drive improved marketing performance.
Winning Agency of the Year represents a huge milestone for the business. Now with 20+ clients that include the likes of FC Barcelona and Red Bull, as well as many non-football clients such as IronMan, Harlequins, England Hockey and Human Race, WePlay have grown to become a go-to specialist for any organisation that seeks to reach and engage sports fans and drive improved marketing performance.
Luca Massaro, Chief Executive of WePlay, comments: “As a business owner it’s often a challenge to find the time to take a step back and appreciate how far we’ve come. This award acknowledges the consistent effort that we have put in over the past five years, to be on the cutting edge of digital marketing and deliver unrivalled marketing and commercial performance for our clients.”
The Football Business Awards 2017 judging panel that includes the Premier League, the Scottish Premier League and The Football Foundation added: “WePlay have achieved a lot for a small but growing independent company. They have excellent clients and the results speak for themselves.”
